Zach Avina is an Associate Attorney at FPLG. Mr. Avina is originally from a small town in Northern California, but earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Psychology, as well as his Master of Business Administration, from Philadelphia University in Pennsylvania.
Mr. Avina then earned his Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, with a focus on labor and employment law. During law school, Mr. Avina was on the Dean’s Honor List for Academic Achievement, and he received the highest scores in both his Advanced Contracts and Labor Law courses. He was also a member of the Pro Bono Honors Society. In his final year of law school, he was honored to receive the James P. O’Neil Scholarship, which is awarded to a student with sufficient academic merit who demonstrates an interest in and proficiency for pro bono work and entrepreneurship.
Mr. Avina is barred in all state and federal district courts in California, and is currently pending admission to the District of Columbia Bar. Prior to joining FPLG, Mr. Avina worked for two years at a boutique litigation firm in North County San Diego, where he practiced construction law and general business law, including labor and employment.
Mr. Avina is passionate about nonprofits and social enterprises. Since 2017, he has served as the Chairman and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization that he founded, which is aimed at promoting second chance employment opportunities to formerly incarcerated individuals – while also providing support for the businesses that hire them – in an effort to bridge the gap. Outside of his time serving the firm’s clients, Mr. Avina enjoys spending time with his family and his partner, learning how to play the piano again, traveling the world, and reading from his personal library.
